Disturbia: The Mythical Town of Crawsham

900x600mm framed.
Gouache/water colour

First conceived in 2001, Disturbia's discourse resides in the residential development of the area between Crawley & Horsham; comically dubbed ‘Crawsham’ by the media.

Crawley and Horsham have individual qualities, historically, socially and politically which makes the blurring of boundaries between the two towns debatable. This could also eventually lead to urban sprawl encompassing areas like Faygate, Charlwood and Gatwick.

Consideration should be given to this area of countryside, so that any development does not turn into a child in joint custody of separate parents (councils), who have their own agendas.
